Sofia Kourtesis – Madres (Black Vinyl)

Of Peruvian origins but based in Berlin for many years, Sofia Kourtesis after four EPs published between 2014 and 2021 is ready for the big step. It's called "Madres" and it's her first album, a very significant piece for her, composed after Peter Vajkoczy, a famous neurosurgeon, saved the life of her mother who was suffering from cancer ("A2. Madres", "B1. Vajkoczy")
Madres makes us travel from the intimate nightclubs in Berlin ("C1. Funkhaus") to sunny beaches on the Spanish coast ("A1. Si Te Portas Bonito") to booming demonstrations on the streets of Latin America ("C2. Cecilia"). It’s a rich collage of foraged samples that beg to be rewound and heard anew, a dance album with folk contamination.
