Micheal A. Muller ‎– Mirror Music

After a nearly twenty-year career as co-founder and multi-instrumentalist of the Balmorhea ensemble, Michael A. Muller deepens his personal compositional exploration with Mirror Music. Writing and producing from his Elyria Sound studio in Los Angeles, he creates experiential music that escapes stereotypes, strongly contaminated by many elements, from 1950s jazz to the 19th century, from classical music to contemporary avant-garde and ambient music . Mirror Music is Muller's debut for Deutsche Grammophon and is conceptually a reflective study with 10 tracks created in collaboration with 11 international artists. Each piece is based on ambient compositions by Muller, written on Mellotron, Oberheim two-voice synthesizer and Rhodes organ. Subsequently, he shared the work with an interdisciplinary group of artists, inviting each to contribute specific pieces. Danny Paul Grody, Chuck Johnson, Vestals, Jonathan Sielaff, Ilyas Ahmed, Douglas McCombs of Tortoise, Rama Parwata, Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, Hania Rani, Jon Porras and Clarice Jensen have joined the project. The album cover created by John Zabawa, a well-known painter from Los Angeles. The physical version of the album is only available on vinyl.
